Lost & Found Pets

Report a lost pet, or snap a photo of a pet you found — PawNexus checks the photo against pets reported lost and alerts the owner.

What it does

Lost & Found brings the two sides of a missing pet together. If your dog or cat is lost, you report it with a last-seen location so it appears in the community lost-pet gallery. If you've found a pet, you can photograph it and let PawNexus check that photo against pets already reported lost — and when there's a strong match, the owner is alerted automatically.

Why photo matching helps

Most lost-pet boards rely on someone reading every listing and recognizing the pet. PawNexus adds a breed-first photo comparison so a found-pet photo can be checked against reported-lost pets quickly — narrowing the search instead of leaving it to chance. Matching is grounded in the pets people have actually reported, and a strong result routes straight to the owner.

FAQ

Do I need an account to help a found pet?
No. You can photograph a found pet and check it against reported-lost pets without signing in. Reporting your own pet as lost uses a one-time code to verify you.
Does it work for cats and dogs?
Yes. PawNexus serves both dog and cat owners.
Available outside the US?
No. PawNexus serves the United States only.
How does the QR tag fit in?
If a found pet wears a PawNexus Pet Passport QR tag, scanning it connects a finder to the owner's contact path. Lost & Found also works for pets without a tag, using the photo match.
