Lost & Found Pets
Report a lost pet, or snap a photo of a pet you found — PawNexus checks the photo against pets reported lost and alerts the owner.
Open Lost & FoundWhat it does
Lost & Found brings the two sides of a missing pet together. If your dog or cat is lost, you report it with a last-seen location so it appears in the community lost-pet gallery. If you've found a pet, you can photograph it and let PawNexus check that photo against pets already reported lost — and when there's a strong match, the owner is alerted automatically.
If you found a pet
- Take or upload a photo of the pet you found.
- PawNexus checks it against pets reported lost, comparing breed first and then the photo itself.
- Scan a PawNexus tag — if the pet is wearing a PawNexus QR collar tag, scan it to reach the owner's contact path directly.
- Strong match → the owner is notified automatically, with your sighting and where you saw the pet.
If your pet is lost
- Report it as lost with a last-seen location and details.
- Verify by one-time code (OTP) so only you can update your pet's status.
- Get alerted when someone reports a sighting or a photo match, so you can follow up quickly.
- Mark it found once your pet is home.
Why photo matching helps
Most lost-pet boards rely on someone reading every listing and recognizing the pet. PawNexus adds a breed-first photo comparison so a found-pet photo can be checked against reported-lost pets quickly — narrowing the search instead of leaving it to chance. Matching is grounded in the pets people have actually reported, and a strong result routes straight to the owner.
