Vet Finder searches veterinary clinics and 24-hour emergency hospitals by US ZIP code, surfacing accreditation badges (AAHA for general practice, AAFP for cat-friendly clinics) sourced from the certifying body's registry rather than self-reported claims.
For urgent situations, the search ranks 24/7 emergency hospitals first. For routine care, the search ranks accredited practices, with non-accredited clinics filtered or de-emphasized.
Why accreditation matters
- AAHA accreditation (American Animal Hospital Association) — only about 12-15% of US veterinary clinics meet AAHA standards, which cover anesthesia safety, pain management, surgical protocols, and patient care quality.
- AAFP cat-friendly designation (American Association of Feline Practitioners) — clinics certified to handle cats with appropriate stress-reduction protocols, equipment, and training.
Most veterinary clinic listings online don't surface these badges. PawNexus pulls them from registries and merges them with Google Places data so you can find an accredited clinic at a glance.
